...How do you have crappy ram? Ram is ram. It all performs the same if the specs are the same.

This was almost 3 years ago now, when I was just getting into computers, I didn't take any notice of the spec so its probably crap.

I'm guessing he means he doesn't like the look of it.

I mean Ram with no heat spreader and a green pcb isn't the most appealing thing in a build..

What kind of ram do you have?

I doubt you have crappy ram though. As long as it's CL9 and 1333 or better, it's good.

For 16 GBs you'll be hard pressed to get decent RAM for $100, $130+ seems the norm for 1600 or 1866 MHz.

8GB is enough for pretty much every average user. 16GB is overkill even for light video editing.

At the moment im running some really old crappy ram that I got for my old PC to bump it up to 8gb, some of the dimm's have broken so i'm now only running 4gb, need some new ram soon, all I need is 16gb, look in my signature to see what you think would fit the build the best. Budget is £100 ish :D

First go to any maker of RAM and go to their memory finder page, then input your motherboard's maker and model, then see what they say is compatible and then find those kit online but i got to warn you, finding 16gb kit of 1600mhz or higher RAM for $100 or lower is very hard right now. You will pay more like $125 - $149 fo 16gb kit. You could get 8gb kits for $100 or less and that is like 2133mhz kits.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Yes and in RAM models. Some models can create instability for what ever reason. I personally like the performance of patriot's memory and this is their memory finder page http://www.patriotmemory.com/support/memory_selector.jsp Corsair and Gskill also have a memory finder page.
