MSI GTX 960 OC 2GD5T VS G2 Gaming VS GAMING 100ME  VS Asus STRIX GTX960 DC2OC 2GD5

So I'm a big time gamer I really want to do a big upgrade from my Dell Laptop and I've come up with this build

 

I play taxing games like War Thunder, BF4 (I gave up on it since my GT 525M doesn't meet BF4's min spec's), Arma 2, DCS World, World of Warships, Red Orchestra 2, Etc.

I found that the GTX 960 meets my price point and is more than powerful to handle what I play, but I can't make my mind what brand to buy.
 
I like Asus for the Strix design it's purpose made to be quiet (Fans don't run under light load etc. I really want quietness because I plan to be recording with this computer), cool, and powerful, all at the same time (It's a good OC'er). Has Super Alloy Power, back plate, and is very power efficient. Asus is the 3rd best selling computer parts company so they must be doing something right.
 
I'm going with a white and blue design, so that's why I have the MSI OC (It doesn't seem to be the best)
 
MSI G2 Gaming seems to be the most popular GTX 960 on the market, but I dislike that the fans don't stop running under light load, and it doesn't have a back plate.
 
The 100ME seems to be a really good card, it's a insane OC'er as shown by Tek Syndicate Hardware (
) due to it being an 8 pin, It has MSI's Military Class 4, it's quiet and fans don't spin under light load, and it has a back plate. I don't know how much longer this GPU will be on the market because it's a limited edition and I'm not sure when I will have the money saved up for this build to buy it in all one shot.

I would get the MSI card, not the 1ME though, personally think it is ugly.

Ive heard bad things from the Strix cards, like bad power delivery, heat output, etc...

But as I said I prefer the ME, because its quiet and fans don't spin under light load, and it has a back plate. I like the design of it personally.

 I don't know how much longer the E100 will be on the market because it's a limited edition and I'm not sure when I will have the money saved up for this build to buy it in all one shot.

My opinion is that you should get a 280x instead of a 960 because it beat out the 960 in both performance and vram(unless you spend more on the 4gb version).

Edit: Actually i just found out that the 380 4gb version is a better buy. It cost a bit less then a 960 4gb and beat the 960 4gb in performance as well. Plus the tdp of the two card are really close.

960 is way more efficient though, for small builds 960 works better. Ofc his build isn't that small.

Uhmmm yes they are check the price on newegg and amazon. They are both in the $200-250 range.

Edit: Actually i just found out that the 380 4gb version is a better buy. It cost a bit less then a 960 4gb and beat the 960 4gb in performance as well. Plus the tdp of the two card are really close.

Am on a budget and trying to save as much money as I can and the cheapest 280X is CAN$280

You're wrong on the passive mode of the MSI 960. It does in deed have a passive mode just like the Asus 960. I would also recommend the MSI 960 for silence since the Asus has a very agressive fan curve once the fans turn on and it turns into a tornado. At least that's what i remember from all the launch reviews.

Hey so i just check some of the price from ncix canada and here is what i found. All there of the 960 model you mention above fall in the same price range as a 280x after rebate. Infact the 280x after rebate cost less then two of the 960.

Looking at your build is not that great. Going for something like this will be much better. The G3258 is a good budget cpu and it's can be overclock but even if you get a good oc on it the 4160 is still better. The 380 like i said before is the best choice at your price range since it has the best performance and vram.
