Aleksbgbg

Hello guys!

I am fourteen and only just gotten into computers and computer parts, and this is going to be my first gaming pc and my first custom built pc. You might say I'm spoilt, but 3/4 of this money is mine, I've been saving up since I was 10 for something good, didn't know what it was until I decided to start looking for it. Anyhow, this is going to be built in 1 or 2 months' time, and I am currently looking for final suggestions such as better parts at a similar parts that will improve this PC in many ways such as long term lasting. I am getting this feedback from friends and family at the moment, but some expert or community advice would be very helpful. Thanks a lot! Here is the build:

as long as you wait for a posible price drop from NVIDIA id say its fine but just because this is so expensive already i would go for a 2TB hdd instead of the 1TB one just because its not that much more, also are you going to run those ssd's in raid 0 or soemthing fancy? id love to know and why not post a build log if you have time :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

No point in blowing all your savings on something totally overkill.

Should've said, but already have a 2nd 1TB from my current PC. As for the raid configuration, EDIT: yes. Raid 0 it is. Also yes a build log, sure going to do that on weekends then.

you don't need the i7 unless you plan on steaming and gaming. i5 is fine for just gaming. or save money and get a xeon E3-1231 v3 same as 4790k but can't overclock, doesn't have on-board video and cheaper. and you need a 4k monitor otherwise 2 980ti's are pointless.

My suggestions:

Get a single 980 ti + Plus lower wattage PSU

Get a single 512 or 1tb SSD

Get a 2tb HDD

Edit: Tripple 4k monitors? Nothing on earth can run that to what I would consider decent. But if you insist, 980ti SLI, sure.

you don't need more thn what you got. its fine. i would prefer a 1440p 27" over a 24" 4k js.

Does the i5 logic still apply when you are running 2 stinking 980TIs? I think when you look at TW3 benchmarks, running a TitanX, the i7 has a 10fps advantage on minimums, even though the averages are similar. I could see new games following that trend but could be wrong...

Taken into consideration swap with xeon.

4k at 24" lol.. good luck with scaling Win.

No idea what you mean, but if i had to guess I would answer with I will be using 3890 or whatever by 1920 as far as I can remember, might be a bit off.

wasting money on triple 4k monitor to downscale to 1080p. wtf. and you fine with only one 980ti if you do this.

Soo.. here is what I've come up with... @Aleksbgbg

First.. Hex core.. cos, why the hell not (also the added pci-e lanes)

Second, 16GB is plenty of ram.. easy to add more later..

great quality PSU (not that the ax860 isn't) but much cheaper

Much cheaper SSD.. but you would need 2 systems side by side to notice the difference... Also you can add another one later if you want very easily (same for ram)

Dual, hybrid 980Ti's.. cos.. best cooling means better overclocks and more silent running.

Ok so this is what I've decided to do taking into account your feedback:

PSU will change to your recommended, I was originally having that one but I wanted a platinum because I thought I was wasting power but looking at it a bit more, I think I'll keep the EVGA.

Big change in monitors, though as of yet undecided just ideas.

Changing SSD type but will still keep 2 of.

Thanks! :)

EDIT: How will it work if I am running one 980Ti on a 27" 4k and keeping a 2nd monitor as an off-task monitor? So I'm scrapping the second 980Ti as I'm not gonna need SLI to work on one monitor.

Big side note: Will a single 980ti, be able to run GTA V on 4k at 60+ FPS on a 27" 4k?

Don't go 4k.. go 1440 144hz.. and no not on the High settings.. GTAV has some very high settings (some insane ones with minimal graphical gains and big performance impact) and 4k is hard to drive. It'll still be good.. but your best to check out benches yourself.

Ok sure, thanks. I guess I have some decisions to make and evaluate. As said earlier, I'm making a build log where I will discuss these issues. Thanks a lot tho! :)

Depending on what you're doing:

- 16GB RAM may be more than adequate

- A single 980Ti may be enough depending on your monitor config and what you wish to run

- The H110i GT could be replaced by something like a Dark Rock Pro 3 or NH-D15 if you're ok with a little less cooling performance and potentially quieter operation (and £20-30 cost saving)
