Gaming PC Build $750-$1000

Should I get a AMD CPU and a AMD GPU OR Intel CPU and a NVIDIA GPU? Trying to use little money, but still want something powerful that also supports having multiple GPUs.

EDIT: I am going to use Intel/AMD.

It really depends on your budget. How much do you have to spend and what are you using it for?

Help me I'm surrounded by morons.

you can have nvidia gpus with amd processors and amd gpus with intel processors lol.

but tbh, how its looking, talking from someone with amd/amd, probably should get a intel/nvidia, but it highly depends on the price point.

Multiple GPUs depends on your MOBO. Intel is better from an upgradability standpoint.

Nowhere does it say that you can't go intel/amd or amd/nvidia if you so desire. What do you need and what is your budget?

So the cheapest option possible or the burn money on a stake option ?

Why not intel amd ?

You would upgrade the $750 build to the $1000 build. Which is simply buying a new CPU and Cooler for the CPU.

Heyyo,

Multiple GPUs depends on your MOBO. Intel is better from an upgradability standpoint.

Exactly. The only way Intel is better in an "upgradability" standpoint is how much more efficient their CPUs are... but upgrade costs? AMD is more cost effective in that scenario as their CPU sockets last longer before Intel abandons it. Heck, X99 seems like the new LGA 1156.. didn't take that long before LGA 1155 took over. :P

After owning amd/amd and going intel/nvidia, I'll never go back. Well, maybe amd GPU, it all depends on the fury x

Pretty much same for me... but for me it was AMD Athlon 64 & ATi Radeon X850 XT. That was the last time I touched AMD... well, minus a budget $700 gaming notebook with an AMD Radeon Mobility 5650 or so GPU in it.

Heyyo,

Go Intel/NVidia

As awesome as Intel and NVIDIA combo is great on the enthusiast side? For his budget he can find an AMD GPU that will give you slightly better price to performance. I'd still go Intel i3 over pretty much all the AMD CPUs though. It'll have more similar performance over all games to the AMD FX-6350 yeah, but then you can always upgrade to a better Intel CPU on that same socket that'll blow away any upgrade AMD currently has on AM3+... Same goes for the FX-8350 You can buy an Intel i5 that'll perform better at stock and the i5-4690k is currently the best CPU on the market for gaming price-to-performance whilst maintaining that enthusiast performance ability.

$1000 build = http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sPrgcf

$750 build = http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YzDHt6

You would upgrade the $750 build to the $1000 build. Which is simply buying a new CPU and Cooler for the CPU.

I like your builds dude, but minor changes I would do is swap that ram to this one:

G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (1.5v CAS 9) = $50

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d8gab

A handful of coins gets you better ram without the need to overclock it. I've used G.Skill in the past and they're a plenty fine brand. This one also has the heatsinks that aren't crazy tall so shouldn't have any problems with that aftermarket CPU cooler.

Or? If you wanted to color-coordinate a little?

Tweaked the RAM & motherboard to be ones with blue highlights. GPU could I guess be changed but meh the Asus Strix's red parts are down facing so not so bad..

MSI make solid motherboards too btw. I've used a few in the past without issues. My bud had to send his away for RMA and it was nice and quick and their customer support was great he said. :)

I also changed the case to a Fractal Design Define S because it's my new dream case lol. I'd freaking LOVE to build a PC in that thing... You could get the Define R5 if you really want to plop in a DVD / Bluray drive though.

LTT Unboxing... I can't remember if he had a review of it too or if that was the one lol I dunno but yeah it's an amazing case

www.youtube.com/watch?v=llldGMd-6BE

.... There's only really one company I'd never recommend to buy a product from... Foxconn. Their RMA process sucks and it was hard to find the right RMA number in Brazil or whatever and

Intel and either AMD or Nvidia.

Intel CPU's are lightyears ahead of AMD CPU's.  I wouldn't consider buying an AMD CPU until Zen comes out.

AMD's GPU's are pretty competitive with Nvidia's.  Nvidia's generally have lower power consumption which will help with your power bill, whereas AMD's cost less upfront.  If you want AMD to stay in business one way of doing so is buying one of their competitive GPUs.

Yea, my ram choice was kinda meh, but it is probably the cheapest ram with a good name behind it.

I cant really vouch for G. Skill either so I just ended up picking the cheaper.

That motherboard is Micro ATX, doesn't support SLI, and doesn't have all of the extra heat spreaders on it.

My case choices change a lot, I haven't really found one at a great price that I'm head over heels for.

I should probably really look into finding a $60-$80 one that I can start recommending for every build. :P

G.Skill makes amazing RAM, as Linus has said before. SLI/Crossfire is a feature very few people use. And the Define S is an $80 case that's amazing :D
