I was playing a match of CSGO and my crappy wireless internet was being slower than usual. (I literally had ping over 2000 and was constantly disconnecting from the server) I did all of the usual things you would do, restart the modem, unplug and replug the wireless adapter on my PC, restart my PC, all that stuff. I eventually gave up and looked at the devices running off of my routers wireless thinking that one of my scrub downstairs neighbors was hoarding off of my internet when I noticed a strange device. It was titled "udhcp1.15.3".

I plowed through the internet, looking for information on this strange device. All I was able to find was a bunch of stuff about Linux, some Japanese YouTube videos, and a forum on Tom's Hardware. It was created my a man with the same router as I and even the same windows version. He had the same device showing up on his router as well, however, the numbers at the end of the device name (in my case "1.15.3") were different for him than they were for me. The only reply to the thread was someone saying something about "do you use Linux?" and a link to some webpage that I couldn't load because I apparently didn't have broadband internet according to the website (strange).

I hope one of you could tell me what this strange device is and if I should probably block it from using my internet straight away. Or of it's a secret government conspiracy, in which case, ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED. It would also be nice (although I know that this probably isn't the case) that this mysterious device was the source to all of my CSGO lag ever and that if I remove it then I will suddenly get 4 ping all of the time on official valve servers and then valve will also release 128 tick servers, and they'll also release Half Life 3, and Linus'll accidentally release all future episodes of scrapyard wars onto YouTube tonight, and give me a free vessel subscription, then the world will EXPLODE. But it would have been the best day ever.

Cheers :D

DHCP is software which provides automatic network configuration

Hmmm....... I liked @Aytex 's suggestion better xD......

kill it with fire

But i'll hold back on the killing it with fire thing for now. I'm moving in a couple of weeks anyway and getting a better ISP and no more wireless and everything. After that i'll probably ACTUALLY throw my 802.11g router into a fire. Sounds like fun.
