nope. once you install the preview you will not recieve the free upgrade to the full version anymore.

(otherwise everybody could just install the ISO and get free windows, without the need to have a machine with a genuine copy of windows already installed)

Maybe you can upgrade with a purchased licence for Windows 10, but it won't be free of course.

if i download the windows 10 ISO, then when the real version of windows 10 is available, will i be able to move over to that and not be on the ISO version any more?

There is no "ISO version." An .iso file is a disk image, it's just a digital copy of a CD/DVD. The Windows 10 .iso that you (presumably) will someday be able to get from Microsoft will be identical software to the version you buy as a box with a disk in it.

By chance, do you mean the Technical Preview?

What you should do is install WIN7/8.8.1 and then do all the updates and then signup for the free update and when Win10 is officially launched you will get your free update which is only equal to which ever Win7/8/8.1 version you  have installed.

There is an .iso version which is the technical preview.

Got it… I found the wording a bit confusing because Microsoft generally offers .iso downloads of release versions of Windows as well, and hopefully/probably will do the same with Windows 10.

Not that anyone with a KMS activation won't receive it...

The upgrade will work on any Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 which has been activated regardless of how. Windows 10 Preview is not supported.

You said Genuine, while KMS and other activators are not that. They simply imitate it. Anyway, simply semantics ;)
