First time sleeving. Good or c*ap?

I know it's not the best but for my first time sleeving what do you think guys?

I do have to paint the text on heat-shrink or paint it at least.

The sleeving needs to but up to the connector. You can see there is very little heatshrink gripping the sleeve, I can bet the sleeving will pop out under little pressure. Also interested to know why you are using double shrink on half the cable?

For a first shot I would say that isn't a bad effort at all, your sleeve could use going a little closer to the connector but I would say that is solid work for a first attempt (I also can't imagine sata cables being the nicest things to sleeve for a first attempt).

  • 2 weeks later...

looks good, you might want to pull the sleeving tighter though so there are less gaps.

I have no idea how a better sleeved SATA cable would look so you did a good job.

from someone who's been sleeving for a while I would say it isn't "bad"

If you want to "do it once do it right" get your sleeving stuff from http://en.mdpc-x.com/ Yes you do pay a bit of a premium for the stuff. But since Sleeving is a premium mod you want to make sure you use the best stuff available

I'm from USA and I just calculated that I can get 3 rolls of 10 meters (33 feet) worth of sleeving (one blue, black and white) for just under $40 AFTER shipping. that's a very good deal for 99 feet of sleeving.
