Turn off hard drive

Matsy

I have a internal hdd i want to control when it's on. Only accessed rarley.

It does spin down after 15min like my external butvwhen emptying recycle bin among other things it keeps spinning back up.

Any way to force it to stay off unless i want it?

Windows power settings if you are using windows. I have a 1TB storage drive that almost never spins up, only when accessing it, no random start ups. :)

Unless there is something installed on the drive or something from that drive was in recycle bin, it shouldn't spin up. :)

I think that both hard drives have a recycle bin, and when you click "empty recycle bin" it checks both directories for files to be deleted. Maybe you can disable the recycle bin on your other drive and then change how long it takes windows discs to spin down in power options

When you clear the recycling bin, it checks all drives connected to the system because all partitions have their own folder for that.

So you've tried this?

Yes, that isnt the problem.

When empty recycle vin or doing certain other things the drive will spin up for no reason.

I want to be able to force it off amd keep it off till i want it on.

There is no file that windows is accessing on the drive.

It still checks the drives, when you "delete" to recycle bin it doesn't delete the files right away. Honestly, I double check what I'm deleting and go shift+delete which deletes directly without going to recycle bin first.
