Arkham Knight Gameworks Demonstration

WB Games and Nvidia has released a new Arkham Knight video demonstrating the power of Gameworks on Arkham Knight. It looks fantastic, I really like the rain effects.

 

 

I really like the Arkham series, played every single one so far so I will just wait until I get a new Nvidia GPU after my upgrade to Intel Skylake for the best experience. Hopefully Game of the Year edition does comes out so we don't have to worry about these bullshit preorder bonuses and DLC, same thing with Witcher 3, hopefully they'll release an Enhanced Edition.

I haven't really seen a Gameworks game running great on AMD either.

All I did was show a video of Gameworks on Arkham Knight and say I'd want to get a Nvidia GPU for this (because I got an AMD). I think you are...

Man, everyone was saying this about the Witcher 3, and yet scaling with AMD cards was even better than Nvidia.  In what world would a 780 perform worse than a 960?!

Yeah, generally when gameworks features are disabled AMD does fine.

 

The problem is launch day performance.  It takes AMD sometime to get a driver out.  ACU and FC4 for example both ran like shit on AMD until a driver came out to fix it.

I agree, but that was more Ubisoft's fault than anything.  The Witcher 3 is proof that AMD users need not suffer from Gameworks implementations.

I would suggest changing the title. Anyway, the last Batman game i played was the Arkham Asylum. Is the gameplay the same as it was? All about striking and countering whenever you can?

They improved the combat significantly. In Arkham City and Arkham Origins, you can perform things like beatdowns, and you have access to more gadgets. Gliding has been improved a great deal as well. Bouncing back and forth between enemies is much smoother as well.

It is about building combo to unlock special moves. At 5x or 8x you can choose a special move, I am not sure if this was in Arkham Asylum. But in Arkham City at 8x I believe you go into Freeflow mode where Batman's animation is faster and everything in slightly slower motion.

Difficult to judge how good it looks from such compressed videos. I did notice the water flying off the cape as he spreads it with gameworks on. LOL @ interactive paper debris.

 

I just hope this will be a well optimized game well polished game and that they do not pull any bullshit like over-tessellation again lowering framerates for no visual benefit.
