System Specs:
CPU: AMD A8-7600 OC'd to 3.9GHZ

Main borad: Lenovo Bantry CRB (Socket FM2+)
RAM: 12gb
Graphics Card: 2gb AMD R9 255 with R7 Integrated
Storage: 1TB SSD

I'm planning on buying an NVIDIA card for shadowplay.

1) Is shadowplay worth it? I recently tried an Avermedia capture card and was not satisfied (wouldn't let me capture computer audio OR merge video and audio into one file)

2) What would be a good card if I only have 1 PCIx slot that is currently filled with my R9 255? I'm willing (and expecting) to give that card up. I also have 2 PCI regular slots.

3) Does shadowplay use more than 20% CPU load when recording 720P 30FPS?

GIGABYTE Z97MX-G516GB DDR3 | I5 4690k @ 4.4ghz | 1TB SSHD, 500GB HDD, 128GB SSD | GTX 1070 8GB | Corsair Graphite 230 | EVGA 650W | Hyper 212 EVO

Cinebench R15: 636(all cores), 127FPS

shadowplay does not use any CPU, maybe 1 or 2%, nothing significant

it also barely affects your fps in game, and gives very good quality video

you have the option of capturing computer audio, mic audio, or both, and everything is rendered into one MP4 file.

you can sell your 255 and buy a cheap nvidia GPU like a 960 or 970 which would be a great upgrade

first do you have shadow mode recording enabled? its the setting beside the large switch that you use to turn on and off shadowplay

if you selected E:/ there should be a folder there called desktop or something which is where the video files go

its called desktop if you have desktop capture enabled, not sure about if you have it disabled

have you tried recording normally? does it capture your game?

Every card past the 600 series is compatible with G-Sync and Shadowplay. As far as im aware every motherboard with a PCIE slot also support any PCIE card meaning Nvidia or AMD. I could be wrong but i think that's how it goes.

I mean, I run a 750ti, but I'm very power limited. do you just want shadowplay? don't mind running medium at 1080p for 60fps? then 750ti is cheap, low power. for anything else, there's masterc- i mean a more expensive card.

They will all be compatible with a motherboard IF it PCI-e lanes that can fit the card (so a gen 2 slot should let it work at below capacity, I think?), but if the motherboard says "gen 3 PCI-e lanes" then it will work for sure.

That 3rd one. And right now 960 is the most you should go because above that you will have bottlenecks from that CPU.

Shadowplay is great when it works... for the last ~10 months it hasn't worked properly for me and a lot of other people (sound cuts out after a short period) on anything after GFE2.1.1, the problem being GFE2.1.1 and before doesn't support the 900 series :( There is apparently a work around to get GFE2.1.1 working on the 900 series that someone found in the last week that I haven't tried so we will see.

Just saying bear in mind Shadowplay is still a beta.

the image didnt work..

is your game full screen? what game is it?

try to start recording when the game is in windowed mode, then maximize it

with games not compatible for in game recording you need to record with desktop capture, but it wont start recording if youre in full screen mode

i'm not sure if its an issue with shadowplay or the way that ALT+F works, I need to test it, but whenever I record MC I need to start recording in windowed then maximize it when the green icon shows up in the bottom right corner

for some reason stop recording works fine in full screen, just not start

also make sure your F keys arent bound to something else or there might be compatibility issues

Manual seems to work for desktop streaming. I just wanted it for funny things that happen in any game with friends. Happened in CS:GO the other day. Game didnt save. However the green button is still not there. Just invisible inside. No idea why it's not giving me the green tick. I think it's just a 900 series problem then.

Manual works within CS:GO Fullscreen Windowed on Manual. Does not work on auto save. Green icon also appears once the game boots.

Looks that way. However you wont get as much performance. 700 series' tend to perform slower compared to 900 series. 600 etc for obvious reasons.

Depends on your monitor and what settings you want to run. If you want 1080 High - Ultra then 700 if you're not bothered about 1080 Normal - High then 600.

700 and 900 series' are similar. Apart from the fact that 900 series cards are more efficient, use less power and can push slightly more fps.

I don't care (for the most part) about what the graphics look like on my screen. I'm going to be using it to make youtube videos.

Currently I get low quality 720p30fps videos, so any improvement from that would be great IMO.

Could you link a few specific ones that you would say would be good?

Pre-900 series are compatible with GFE2.1.1 without work arounds, this recording issue (as well as others) don't seem to be series related, as yet no one has really identified the cause of the issue other than its related to the updated Shadowplay server process.

Put simply the fact its beta means it'll be a lot more hit and miss than a final release.
