Hello, and thanks for reading this already!

I've got some questions regarding Underclocking CPU's.

First of all, is it possible? (This may sound stupid, but the internet is really silent about Underclocking).

If it is, does it have some pro's? Lower temps, or power consumption?

And does it void warranty?

Thanks in advance!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

Pretty sure it's possible..

But why? Decrease in performance, but lower temps.

I know some people do it on phones (heard my friend did) to get more battery life out of their phone

I undervolted my 860K to survive this summer, this shit heats the room so bad I can't stop sweating

AMD 860K @ 4.3GHz ; Kingston HyperX Fury 2400MHz ; Asus A88XM-Plus ; Sapphire R9 270X 2GB ; 600W Tacens Radix VII AG 80+Silver  ; Cooler Master TX3 Evo

Who underclocks anyway, that will decrease performance.

Just undervolt so it uses less heat and lower temps.

Practically everyone: speedstep does both by default.

Do you think my CPU is sitting at 1.4V+ constantly? Even when I'm just web browsing? Naw, currently sitting at 0.8V and 1.2GHz.

If you only underclock the base clock, but leave the turbo boost be, it won't decrease performance necessary, right? Or is that not how it works?

Also, stupid question, but what is the difference between undervolting and underclocking?

Yes you can. It might reduce power consumption and it will probably reduce heat output. And no, it will not void your warranty.

Speedstep?

Basically, Intel chips will adjust their frequency based on the load which is put on them. Kinda like TurboBoost, GPU Boost, and so on.
