What card do I have?

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

I had it for a while since it came with my old computer that I got for christmas (Alienware x51 2012/2013)

Regular "reference" 660. That was the highest that the X51 had for 600-series Late 2012, it never came with a 660 Ti.

http://www.cnet.com/au/products/alienware-x51-late-2012/

It's some sort of gtx 660.

Not sure of ti, OEM or normal.

How can I tell?

I do not have the time to put it in my computer to find out

The label on the PCB should just say 660 if it's just a 660.

you don't have time to download a small program? yet you have time to wait for forum responses? this post makes absolutely no sense.

gpuz is a program you download and it tells you all kinds of information about your gpu. and opening your pc doesn't require being in a static free place in your house. if you are that concerned just don't touch the circuit boards and you'll be fine. but again, a program could tell you all you would need to know.

if you are windows, press the start button and type n device manager in the search bar, then click "Device Manager". After it opens, go to display adapters. I'm pretty sure this will tell you it's a ti or not. but if it doesn't, just take it out of the system. You don'thave to be like ECTREMELY ANTI STATIC ERMAHGEHRD but just be careful, discharge yourself on a metal object and you will be fine. Or just get something like GPU-Z or HWinfo

Oh I just realized that the GPU isn't even inside the system... well by the time you reply to all these comments, you probably could have put it inside, just saying...

Do you see the barcode? Does it say anything? Also, if you have an appropriate device and app, try scanning the QR code.

Has no branding

which means it is a reference design from nvidia. or an OEM model.

Unfortunately all three of the reference cooler 660 models look exactly the same - and yours has no differentiating markings either.

If scanning the barcode/qr code doesn't work, and you can't see any tiny writing on it anywhere stating what it is, the only way you have to find out what it'll be is:

1) disassembly and hope there's marking on the other side of the PCB (not recommended)

2) put it in a PC and run GPU-Z

The second is by far the easiest way to find out definitively what it is.

Nvidia's reference specifications for the three cards:

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660/specifications

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660-oem/specifications

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660ti/specifications

TL;DR is that I don't think you can tell by looking at the card's exterior. Install it and use GPU-Z to check the number of CUDA cores, as that cannot vary. 1152 for the OEM version, 960 for the retail 660, 1344 for the 660 Ti. I don't know a better way.
