Why do I lag in Arma 3 multiplayer?   On almost any setting I don't gain or loos fps.  I only get around 25fps in Arma 3 multiplayer.

Is there anything besides upgrading my computer to run multiplayer at a playable fps? (At least 30)

Because ARMA 3 murders CPUs with a flaming axe.

That's why.

Yours was an easy target.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Arma 3 is notoriously poorly optimized for CPUs. Upgrading your CPU should help a lot. You'll have to hop motherboard platform to Intel to see any improvement because the game won't utilize the many CPU cores in AMD processors.

Quite aptly put.

Ok,  lets say if I only upgraded my cpu to an i7-4790k,  what kind of frames and settings could I expect?

like others have said, arma 3 is VERY poorly optimized on the cpu side. Hell, i even have trouble running it well with my overclocked 4670k even after disabling core parking.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

If you can turn down view distance that should help alleviate the CPU load. Overclocking is also free performance if you're CPU-bound

It's hard to say exactly. Maybe double the FPS on the same settings? Somewhere in that ballpark, I think.

Well, I dunno. It'd just be a lot.

With my system (specs in my subscribe) I get around 40FPS mostly on ultra settings and 1.5km view distance on King of the Hill 70-110 players servers BUT only on Hostile Takeover servers. Why? Because other servers are bad and I am unable to get above 20FPS on low settings. Arma is really single threaded CPU heavy game and server side dependant. If host has 30FPS client can't have over 30FPS. If host has lags... Client will have lags. You really need to find good servers and stick to them. Also servers with a lot of scripts murder the FPS.
