Upgrading from an 7790?

2SPOOKY4ME

I currently have a SAPPHIRE HD 7790 1GB GDDR5 DUAL-X OC and I'm planning on upgrading, what would be a logical upgrade from my current one? I've been playing the latest games but I feel like my GPU isn't quite working how I want to be especially because it's limited to 1GB of VRAM. Thanks in advance!

2SPOOKY4ME Well if you are inclined to team RED(AMD) then look at the r9 280 or 290 depending on your budget. If you are team Green(Nvidia) look at the Gtx 960 or 970, these are newer cards thats why they're a bit more expensive.

Well yeah I'm all in for AMD but if Nvidia's performance is better for the price, I'd consider switching teams ☺

Currently AMD has the FPS per dollar now, So if your budget is $200 (USD(just a guess)) you could get Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE or a EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB Superclocked.

I have based these on that you will play 1080p maybe if not maybe save up the the next card up in the food chain.

save up a little more, and see if you can afford a r9 290. when amd releases their 300 sires, the price may also drop for the previous generation, or some of the new series cards may be in your price range

I'd wait and save up for either a 290 or 290x or a gtx 970

I cannot vouch for this, my friend has the GTX 960 and cant play GTA V on high or ultra @ 1080p at 60fps.
