Should I upgrade my PSU?

Your PSU is very good, keep it.

Hello Forum!

So I currently have the Antec HCG 850w Modular PSU. My girlfriends brother is planning to make a build.

Question is: Should I upgrade my PSU and give it to him? Or is it better overall to have him just buy one.

He is building a mid range gaming PC so yeah.

Quick Question: When is it a good time to upgrade your PSU? Out of curiosity.

Thanks guys!

850W is good enough for a top of the line i7 and two way SLI and still have some headroom ;) Your specs?

Does your PSU spark up more than a heavy smoker? Does it flash (sparks) at you more times than a pedophile? Does it keep you up at night more times than that car alarm outside and JUST CAN'T FIND THE OWNER?! No? Then your PSU's fine. You upgrade your PSU if wattage is too low or if it doesn't have enough connectors for that multi-card setup.

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Upgrade it when your computer starts to experience shutters, slow bios post, squeezing noise from psu. My psu died a few days ago. Not gonna hijack the thread but how do i see it hasnt damaged other components

That's a Seasonic OEM PSU and from looking at it's review it doesn't look like there is any glaring issues or things to point out, overall that's a pretty solid unit:

Very weird but informative statement lol

I would assume of you saw any physical damages or smoke scented.

That's what I figured. I had a thought today that maybe my PSU was good enough

No smells just cut off after turning it on like kicking out the plug
