Upgrading To SSD on Pre-Built PC

Hi, I am upgrading my HP Pavilion Elite Hpe 510Y with a new ssd as a boot drive since the boot times are terrible. Bad news is they did not give us a windows 7 install disc or key when buying the pc 5 years ago. Is there a way for me to pull the windows 7 that is currently on the hard drive and put it on the ssd without needing to buy a new copy of windows 7? Also will it say I have an incorrect key or that it is null and void? Please Help!

You can just migrate the data from your hdd to the ssd.

Moving thread to OS and Software.

I thought about that but can I move just the os over instead of everything because the hard drive that the os is currently on is 1.5 terabytes and the ssd is only 240gb?

Some migration programs have the options to only move the OS and programs.

Okay, my apologies for that. Could you send the link for a program like that?

I think Macrium Reflect should be able to do that.  http://www.macrium.com/

Do I need to pay the $70? I'm just looking to see if I need to purchase a new copy of Windows or if I can just move it over.

No, you can use the free version.
