Having trouble .m4v files on my PC

AHHHH!

 

Just built this new HTPC and it's not letting me play .m4v files.  These are files that I purchased from the iTunes store years ago and would now like to enjoy them on the new PC.  Do I need to get iTunes again to play them?  I was trying to use Windows Media Center.  VLC and Windows Media Player were also having trouble with this.  Please help!

VLC should have no problems.  Maybe try getting the K-Lite Codec pack for Windows Media Player?

Simple way to do it is just get the codecs. Google k-lite codec pack and I just install all of them so you'll have no problem playing any video/audio types

My bad, I just saw your link while quickly scrolling.  Thought I selected the correct response.  Guess not.  PS after installing that and the update it at least starts to play the files but won't play smoothly.  Perhaps after I reboot the PC it will work correctly?

What are your specs? Did you install GPU drivers from the manufacturer's website?

Just curious, are you using classic media player that comes with the codecs or windows media player?

not classic...was trying to use media center and then windows media player that came with the OS

Okay, I've had the same thing. I'm not sure what it is but I found that some things play fine through classic that don't play smooth through media player and same the other way around. I've just set up file types to open with whichever works the best

Interesting.  I found it weird that VLC wouldn't play the files also.
