Is the Mixamp Pro worth it?

Depends on what you want to use it for. For console gaming the Mixamp is nice. It does a very good job with the simulated surround sound and its nice to have game/voice volume control. However, if this is for PC use then no. You can get a better amp/dac with a volume knob if thats what you need. I say that because the Mixamp used with a PC is basically just that, a dac/amp with a volume knob.

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

I have the Mixamp pro. It's great for console gaming because it essentially allows you to use any PC headset with your console. I use the Sennheiser's HD 558 and a modmic with my ps3. However, the volume balance between the left and and right channels are unbalanced at lower volumes. Google leads me to believe other ppl have the same issue. So the manufacturing process is a little questionable. If you play on PC, I would go another route.

is the mixamp pro worth the extra $50-$60 for the Astro A40s?

I use one for console gaming easiest way to connect a good pair of headphones+mic to a console without using some garbo "gaming" headset.  For PC you could find a better option, also don't buy Astro headsets you can get much better for the price.

That imbalance is actually very common amongst stereo potentiometers (volume knob). You gotta spend a decent amount of cash to get the dB difference smaller and smaller, or use a digital pot.

I'm only getting them as I heard there sound not mic is better that the HyperX cloud but not as good as like Sennhieser 350SE or g4me zeros. Also I've heard there the most comfortable headset on the market.
