What GPU will run GTA 5 in 1080p with Ultra settings at 60 fps?

zbarni21

What GPU do you recommend for a 900$ build? If possible it should be able to run GTA 5 in 1080p with Ultra settings at 60fps. The CPU would be an i5-4690K or an AMD FX-8350 and the build would have 8GB of RAM.

Go with the i5 for the CPU, and the R9 290X and GTX 970 can both manage this.

If its just 1080p, then 4690 (with or without K doesn't matter) and GTX 970, 980 or r9 290x would do just fine.

Nope the 970 you have to turn down settings.

I gather that is through first hand experience? Really? I'm kinda surprised tbh since my 280x is being such a good little boy.

Gtx 970 will run just fine with the exception of advance settings. Advance settings take up,tons of VRAM.

Nope. I had to lower settings to stop it from dropping under 60fps

everything on ultra, you can NOT have Max advance settings because VRAM will limit you. What 970 do you have?

MSI 4G and I have it overclocked to 1520MHz so don't tell me it's my card.

No matter what your FPS will drop maxed out.

Heyyo,

i5-4690k with an NVIDIA GTX 980 for all settings set to Ultra... the game is definitely GPU-intensive. It loves VRAM more than processing power, so depending on your render distance and such? An AMD R9 290X or NVIDIA GTX 970 will get you pretty close to Ultra with 60fps at all times...

The main setting you want to crank in GTA V anyways is Textures to Ultra and MSAA x2 or x4 with TXAA and then Shadows set to softest or NVIDIA PCSS (or AMD's equivalent). I'm sure an AMD R9 290X or NVIDIA GTX 970 could easily handle those settings. The other settings aren't quite as important or impact the visuals quite as much so even turning those to High won't affect it that harshly if you can't afford the top of the line GPUs by NVIDIA or the upcoming ones from AMD.

Don't trust the benchmark runs on GTA V... the in-game benchmark is pretty darn silly. It's a few cutscenes and doesn't properly represent gameplay... GTA IV actually had a more accurate benchmark tbh. They used playback of multiplayer for some of it.

Here's a primary example, Gamer Nexus uses the ingame benchmark which isn't nearly as optimial as just loading single player and driving a specified route for example.

Depends what you mean by ''ultra settings''...if you plan on maxing out all the graphics including the sliders in the ''advanced graphics'' tab...you better get dual Titan X son.

Personaly i play the game on a single GTX 780 and i'm plenty happy just about everything is maxed out the ''advanced graphics'' sliders are half-way only and some stuff i lowered a little bit such as grass quality (this one will KILL your framerate in some areas) but i think i get like 98% of the possible graphics eyecandyness ATM and i stay at 60FPS consistently...on a 780...so i'd say a GTX 970 or R9 290X card is ''pretty much'' as good as it gets unless you willing to spend an extra 500$ for the extra 2% eyecandyness...
