ddr2? i can't find anything saying it and i wasn't really paying attention to the video(if it was in there) and i can't understand russian.

It's a start. 

But as for making a competitor to any modern architecture, they won't be outsourcing the production, if the use of the chips is mission-critical government and millitary use. And Russian semiconductor industry has never been anywhere close to the technology of the big manufacturers.

What people fail to realize is that Russia is slowly, but surely, rescinding its dependency with the west.

We can all miss the point and focus in vodka jokes and what not or start to see this issue for what it is.

Yup, and this processor may be slow, but it's already enough for most mundane tasks and if you put enough of them together, it may make an usable "super computer".

 

And it was not that bad of a start, actually...
