I find them stylish and they sound well once broken in. It really helps to have an amp and dac along with high quality music file. Quality is only as good as the source from wence it came.

No it doesn't, unless you get your tracks from Youtube downloader and you listen on a cell phone with high noise floor, and there's no evidence to suggest that burning in makes a large difference in sound.

Kids aren't interested in price, they're interested in bling and coolness. Orpheus won't rank up in their list of anythings anywhere.

True, but the cousin gave the remark of 'they are expensive so they have to be good'. Although in that context, a 4 grand Stax should give enough impact already.

As for looks alone, gaming headsets look good. I've seen some teens wearing razrs and steelseries in malls and cafes. I have to admit, they do kinda look good, compared to old gramps astronaut-y looking HE400, for example.

Anyone saying, that a sub $100 product sounds as good as those $400 Beats headphones, is just as much an ignorant idiot, as the one guy saying that Beats are the best headphones around.

That sentence might be badly misinterpreted, but I think I get what you're saying. I'm guessing, to blind fanatically hating something is sometimes as bad as blind fanatically loving something.

Agreed to some extent. Best is of course having some experiences to said products before passing judgments.

Beats headphones are fine. Nothing special, nothing terrible. As somebody pointed out, much like owning an Apple product is often more about image than anything else, Beats headphones is more about it being "Beats by Dr. Dre" than about them being better than other headphones. To me, it's a drawback that they are "Beats by Dr. Dre" but that's just personal preference.

It does seem however, like this is a pretty sweet deal: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50xBL-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUSGM/ref=pd_sim_23_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1GZ551WGDHBFTDF7PSVY

Any counterargument or are you just gonna say "lol no" and pat yourself on the back?

Bose is generally overpriced for what you get. It takes up everybody's attention and all the cool speakers get pushed the side and people haven't even heard of them. You might THINK you know a respected audio professional... He/she might even actually be respected, the question is, respected BY WHO?

People get too defensive over Bose.

Beats are designed to be sold to people that don't care much for actual quality. They ship a couple to celebrities that wear it, do lots of flashy commercials and people will buy them. I honestly have never been impressed in the cheap build quality these things seem to have, especially the glossy plastic ones.

I only need one: Sennheiser HD280 pro.

That is the most true headphone you will get, under $100

Boom. They're like $70, sound great, and they HaVe GrEaT BaSs M8, which is all anyone seems to care about.

Plus they have the added feature of not making you look like you bought a specific pair of headphones just so everyone would notice.

Honestly, the effort it would take just to prove your friend wrong about Beats isn't worth it. He seems like his mind is already made up, what's the point. I'm only a downer in this regard because I've had convos like this with way too many people that have all ended up the same way.
