hey guys, i was wondering if the RAM or the HDD does affect the gaming performance or quality? like fps drops or lower than the expected fps ? something like that could happen? because as i know or related to my knowledge the ram/HDD doesnt affect the fps but just the loading which means loading new maps or teleporting to another map .. but does not affect the gameplay fps? i hope you help me guys because this is really gonna help

Quality wise some are faster some last longer just depends which ones you buy for both hdd and ram

RAM has some bearing on gaming performance, generally faster RAM and more should be better (though you should never need to go over 16GB RAM or 2133MHz. HDD however tends to have no bearing on gaming performance but has bearing on the load times.

Some games like more RAM (like BF4 and Minecraft are examples) but you won't benefit from 16GB. 8GB should be plenty and not bottleneck.

As for HDD, it will only make your games load longer (in the beginning and all the other loading screens) it won't affect the fps at all pretty much

4GB is not quite adequate for today's game imo. What problem you encountered?

DDR2 still runs well on a lot of gaming PC's (Despite being fairly old)

DDR3 is the best price wise (Not for long since DDR4 will drive the prices up like DDR3 did to DDR2)

DDR4 is a waste unless you bench on a regular basis and DDR3 1600Mhz is all you need any high and you are wasting money

 

4gb is not enough any more to get a good rig going (or you play minecraft RAM HOG!)

8gb is a good starting point

16gb is alright if you do a lot of work that requires RAM on a heavy load or have 20000 tabs in Chrome

32gb if all you do is gaming then don't bother

im playing online games which doesnt get above 3gb or 2gb .. and its not a problem or u can say im not sure yet..well im just kinda confused because i have friends playing for example the same game but they have weaker rig and they have higher fps/performance on the same settings which is maxed out ..so im just getting sure its not the ram or the HDD

u dont get my point.. im asking if it causes fps decrease or not.. like 10~30fps or not .. also already said im running on 2.8 ~ 3gb ram out of 4gb ( i dont hit the limits anyhow)

Replace old stick with 2x4Gb stick and yes it can by today's standards.

I have 8Gb of DDR3 1600mhz and I can say Minecraft can suck up 5.7gb of my 8Gbs of DDR3 RAM which was a bit of a shock so you are better getting DDR3 8Gb.

well im talking about the fps, also i didn't ran out of memory until now it only hits 2900 out of 4000

RAM has diminishing returns past 1600MHz

HDD rarely affects performance. An older IDE drive might, but anything SATA will be fine.

If you have pagefile enabled, you'll never "run out" of RAM. Try disable it.

and also i dont even hit more than 3000 so how it suppose to be the pagefile since as i know it get in used once my ram get filled up ?

also it only moves to pagefile when the data are not being used so i think its not affective ?
