not by itself, you should have it plugged into a surge suppressor.

Unless your appliances regularly go out and explode during thunder, I wouldn't worry :D

24 fps for that "cinematic" feel

After a couple weeks of behavioral sciences at my school I can easily conclude my parents need to grow up.

I did I plugged it into one of those power strips that says "protection working" with a LED that is lit by it

The chance of your house being hit by lightning causing a surge is less than 1 in 1 million

But who am I to tell you? I've been struck by lightning

Lightning is what you're worried about, thunder is the noise lightning is the flash. That being said a good quality surge protector will go a long way in protecting your hardware.

The best thing you can do is completely unplug your computer during a lightning storm. A surge protector, while good for small surges, is not going to stop what miles of sky could not. Just shut down the computer and unplug it.

It's always a good day if you woke up breathing.

If your house is struck probably not, a strke close by probably. There is a shit ton of energy in lightning.

I remember when I was frightened from thunder. Your PSU will pass that stage in life, just have to give it time. :P
