I would imagine however that the keycap wouldn't be very strong. I can imagine it breaking quite easily.

This would depend on the print material, i'm not an experienced 3d printer though...

It wouldn't have a nice feeling like PBT keycaps. Then again if you're gonna go all out on a 3-d printed keycap it most likely won't be practical.

It takes about a 2 hour bus drive for me to reach a library that has 3d printing.

Digital technology hub or something like that too young to drive.

The problem with the 3d printed ones is that they are very bad quality and something like a 3d potato cannot be made to that level of detail reliably. This potato keycap is mass produced and therefore allows them to invest in profesional manufacturing solutions, giving a quality keycap to offer, as opposed to the homemade 3d printed one.

Someone sells 3d printed keycaps, they're totally solid.

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Way too expensive for easy to massprint keycaps tho.

They cost a few cents to make and are selling for 6bucks?

Even if so, you could always put it on a rarely used key.  Practically speaking it would probably be annoying to type with anyways; it's probably just for style and giggles.
