Could always also buy a piece of wood (from outside or Ikea) and buy 4 Ikea legs to make your own table

Actual computer desk aren't that good. I have one and it's crap. Grab a standard flat desk and just buy a keyboard mount and install it yourself.

Agreed, I have an Ikea Galant with the 'A' shaped legs and it's very sturdy and stable. I used to think only this relatively unknown brand, Sitoca, made very good computer table (I have a two tier model that cost me a good bit of cash). But Ikea Galant changed my view of that, don't look at other Ikea tables other than the Galant series, outstanding material quality (self assembled), I'm sitting in front of it using my 3rd rig. My brother made the mistake of getting one of those cheap Ikea table for office use and the table top actually curved down a fair bit......really made me rather hesitant to get the Galant, but due to overwhelming encouragement from guys in the local tech forum, I went ahead with the purchase and never looked back.

Good idea, but if this vintage table doesn't suit the deco, can you live with it? If you can't, do you expect others to? The Galant, with a choice to different color table top, would fit into most home deco with ease. Yes, "something old, nice looking and actually mildly interesting" sounds like a good idea, but getting it to match a modern home deco can be something of a challenge.

There's more out there than some huge baroque table you seem to think about. You can easily find high quality design furniture that looks modern even though it might be a 50 year old design. I'm just saying my opinion in this matter since there is more to choose from than IKEA or "4 legs plus wooden table top".

 

I almost get some Orwellian vibes when everyone has exactly the same furniture.

Gonna hope everyone stops suggesting IKEA. Unless there is a store near you and you can go pick it up it's a flat rate of $100 shipping on top of anything you buy. Good if you're getting a whole room of stuff or house, bad if you're just buying a desk.

Just get a flat piece of plywood table top stuff at home depot or similar local place and either get legs or make em. At least if all you're looking for is a flat desk. You're looking at $80 tops maybe instead of $300 with IKEA.
