i've tested on both builds, tested on fc4 and other games, they achieve equal performance.

the difference is only CPU Usage.

my build :

CPU Usage

Highest : 80%

Lowest : 20%

average : 65%

his build

CPU Usage

Highest : 60%

easy to find out: grab a benchmark of the kind you want to test (probably game benchmark) and see how both systems do.

i'm actually curious to see how both systems fare in a benchmark.

I would pick his build, simply for the not so awkward memory config and the 4690k.

The displays are both horrible tho.

The displays, how the fuck do you play on that.. are you guys really buying high end gaming gear with crap displays?

His build wins by far though simply because of the master cpu.

Reasoning:

He has a way better CPU (one of the best gaming cpu's) + he has good cooling for his cpu so he can OC it really far.

The GPU's are pretty equal, yours is better but since your cpu isn't that great it might bottleneck your 970 a little so in the end there's not that much difference.

Also the 2x4 dual channel of his build wins over you 1x8 + 1x2 even though it's not that much of a difference.

His PC is better in my opinion....

Both kind of fail when it comes to display but just rig alone, I will pick your friend's. He's should be (in a way) 30% - 50% better than yours (roughly).

why his ram wins? he buys 1x8Gb chip and 10 days later he buy again 1x8GB. so he calls dual channel.

is dual channel kit with separate chip is different?

Well, at least they can upgrade in the future. Let's talk about current build....

His is a bit better but you both have to get a better monitor, use your current monitors as a second monitor (like I do)

For 100€ you have a good monitor!

2x4gb dual means, he'll have acces to both sticks at the same time, same speed.

Dual can provide a boost up to 10-15% performance gain over a single stick which results in higher fps as more data can be fed at once.

and his room was very hot because his GPU (r9 reference is sooooo thermal throttling) and noisy.

but he admits my build is too damn cool (overkill cooling) and super silent.

You have 2 running in single.. he has 2x4 in dual channel.. so his will be slightly faster. Also the color says nothing, it's the same ram. It's just asthetics.

haha yes, and its not expensive.

Also the ram difference is really minor...

It's mainly because of his superior cpu + cooling that he wins. :)
