So I decided to look at the top music in the USA right now on spotify. It really lowered my faith in my generation and the next (main users of spotify).There are some decent songs on the list, but probably only 15% of them.The top is See You Again, which is a song I happen to like. But then I clicked on the 3rd Nasty Freestyle by T-Wayne. It is all effects added to his voice, which you can still tell isnt that good and he isn't rapping, just talking. I looked at the lyrics and they are totally meaningless. Does anyone here actually listen to this? Am I missing something?

I have no idea what popular music is anymore.  I'm okay with it.

popular music changes over time, Just remember that 90% of music is not targeted to you. 

 

me personally, I can listen to almost anything. when I listen to rap, its to get pumped up for something.

I tend to prefer music without lyrics. I can't stand a lot of modern, popular music, even if they don't have stupid lyrics. 

 

EDM is good for me.

talked about my tamyia blackfoot, and just remembered you from that.

 

I listen to trap, punk, post hard core, acustic punk stuff, but then I have no problem listening to ghetto ass rap. I prefer my white rapers though, just have a diffrent sound. MGK, caskey are amazing. 

 

Im wierd when it comes to music. in the morning, its metal/rock stuff, super heavy. to wake me up and get me pumped though the day. punk stuff during classes, rap between classes, and edm/trap after school.

Lil Wayne will be like a Talib Kweli of a different generation (I know they're not stylistically related. Just an analogy). Time keeps going.

sounds bad but its true LOL. Just have a different sound that I prefer. and tends to be more meaningful lyrics then other rap to put it lightly. 

 

granted all rappers have meaningful songs, and just pump up party songs

I Just recently broken into rap, so to be honest have no idea who kendrick or Q is lol. I know theres some artists besides them I listen to, but always just a few songs, not artists who I listen to every single one of there songs

 

and its late, and on the phone, so yeah Im kinda blind and still not seeing it

Everybody thinks that the generation after them is going to suck. It's been going on for centuries and it's not gonna stop. But like someone else said, it's not targeted at you.

hey actually, can you recommend some good rap then? Im in a music humanites class, so I been really trying to open up to new music.

You hold on sir, you missed the glorious 80s! 

My dad was a huge fan of the 80's so I listened to way to much of it when I was little, therefore i don't really like it anymore. It's been played out to me at least. :)

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)
