"Losing" Estimated Points? - F@h

Hey there!

Recently, Ive begun to notice a drop in my Estimated Points. For example, at the start, Estimated points was about 10k, a few hours it drops to 8k? Is there a "the longer you take the less you earn" thing going on?

Lemme show you what I mean.

I know that its only 5 points of difference, I couldn't wait long enough to send this post out. Point is, there is fluctuation?

A fluctuation of 5 points is within margin of error.

However, a drop from 10k to 8k less so, but I think it may have just bounced back up as drops sometimes happen, afterall it's still just an estimation.

As has been mentioned already, a estimate is just that. An estimation, a

prediction, no certainty, it will be prone to change. It could be that something

in the background is using up more cpu/gpu Resources than it did 5 minutes

ago, you opening a browser/video or any other random variable you can

think of. It doesn't necessarily decrease, but it will fluctuate up and Down

throughout the day.

If you were to pause the slot and resume it, you would see a lower ppd

estimate due to loosing out on QRB Points.

Like Vavetti said, its just an estimation, and from experience they tend to be very generous with their estimations. PPD will fluctuate depending on the intensity of even a small chunk of any given work unit and will quite typically lose points as you get further into the unit, so the PPD that the client reports is quite inaccurate. To know your actual PPD you need to wait about 2 weeks since you've started folding (I don't know how long ago you joined) and then go to http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&t=223518, find your name and look for the 24hr average column. Something worth keeping in mind is that a few points is like nothing here, if you were to pause your 970 for just a few minutes you would likely lose a few THOUSAND points because of how the quick return bonus increases exponentially.
