I was allowed to spend the $30k I've accumulated from part time jobs over the past three years.

 

I fully regret a lot of my spending choices because now that I have $5k in my bank account. Sure I came out wiser, but goddamned, $25k, gone.

Based on this, I could conclude that your dad is encouraging to spend money on things that would serve a purpose. You have a case that works more than fine, and there's no practical reason to replace it. A better quality microphone would serve a purpose than something sitting on the floor that you just want to look at because it has a window and isn't dull.

 

His "get a new case when you get a new graphics card" enforces this because he very likely recognizes that an upgraded video card would warrant a better case. 

 

 

What he's telling you is very pragmatic and rational, and I agree with him entirely. 

Case doesn't sit on the floor. I already have a Blue Snowball. But yes, he is trying to have me spend my money on things that are usefull. We made a deal yesterday that involves me getting all A's in double accelerated math and all other accelerated classes and him paying. Seems fair to me.

Here's something you could think of investing in. A DSLR for youtube videos 

 

Looking at your videos you seem to be recording with phone or gopro. The videos are grainy and noisy as hell. Invest in some camera equipment or invest some time into learning how to color grade/stabilize your videos would help a lot in your video quality. That way you might just make more than $30 a year

 

And plus you'll have a kick ass camera to shoot photos and stuff.

Couldn't agree more and to the OP, if you don't like it then maybe it is time to look for your own place otherwise keep it to yourself. For my shelter I have to pay so please bare that in mind.

Well actually they bought me a prebuilt when I was unintelligent about PCs. Sold that to build this. The R4 is just basic. I mean it's good because of its simplicity but I would much rather have a Noctis 450. There really is nothing else for me to save my money for. The only thing would be a monitor but G-Sync is too much right now. I expect it to go down  a fair amount next year.

Yeah those were quick videos. I have a DSLR but it's old. The lens is wonderful but the actual camera isn't the best. I think that it can only do 720p 24fps or something like that. I could just upscale it to make it appear in 1080p (the videos are very saturated and pretty). I will probably get the mic and sell my Shield. I can use that money to put into an ROG Swift later on down the road. I really didn't take the necessary amounts of time to shoot my current videos. Next month when I get the new case I'll have a build video which will have a lot of time put in to it.

How old are you? I'd suggest getting a job. Trust me, I can speak from experience when I say having a job while you're young is great. Suggest it to your parents to let you put in a few resumes. They'll probably let you spend and manage your own money more if you're working for it. I'd suggest getting a job at maccas or the closest grocery store or something.
