The amperage matters too but is under no circumstances enough to harm you. You'll get a little zap and that's about it. Worse is that if you get zapped, you've probably shorted something out and managed to permanently harm your computer.

True (sort of), a Van da Graff generator will hurt a lot more than 12 volts at 1 amp. But my question is, WHY????
