AMD Radeon 9970 specs!

M-ursu

Only 10% performance increase would actually stop the market for few years unless in 2014 there is another architecture planned by AMD. Reason is, if Titan is only 10% worse than best new Radeon, Nvidia will not release their best Maxwell cheap in 2014 as their affordable flagship so they don't steal all AMD sales.

Well, that's not neccessarily true, but it's plausable. Still I don't see why nvidia would let that piece of cake go to AMD if they don't have to. And a 10% more powerful GPU for 10% less money is a big gap. And if history is to say, it's always been like this. Just like the 7000 series beat the 500 series a few years back :)

Still, we can all profit from lower prices, so go AMD! :)

I am SPECIFICALLY talking about 7970 vs 580. The jump wasn't really big so Nvidia didn't bother to release GK110 as GTX 680 as initially planned. They only released Gk104 as 680, but GK104 was supposed to be lower-end and GK110 was the real flagship. They only released GK110 for Tesla GPUs until 2013 year. And now Gk110 cost 650$ or 1000$ (Titan, 780) AAAAND it's not really a full-fledged GK110 even! There still is 1SMX turned off!

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Yeah... hopefully the alleged Titan Ultra will have the whole GK110 core enabled, and for the same price as the titan. The price of the titan is still rediculous even today.

I know the 780 is overpriced MISTER! It's not easy to NOT feel sore when a R9-290 turns out to be faster than my 780 and maybe cheaper. Im human, c'mon..pls give me a break and stop sending me PM abt reporting me for allegedly,"trolling".

If Radeons 7970 were a good amount faster than 580 then Nvidia wouldn't hesitate to launch GTX 680 with GK110 inside. :/

If Radeon 9970 (or whateva' it's called) is only few % faster than Titan, Nvidia once again will not launch flagship Maxwell at affordable price initially.

GK110 was prepared for 2012 Kepler launch. If more than 1 year later, late 2013 Radeon next-gen GPU will only be slightly faster, than that doesn't mean anything good for customer.

Well, you gotta admit the 7900 series is much faster than the 500 series, for example:

Untitled-25.png

The 500 series is more compareable to the 6000 series (the 500 is faster though, just like any other time). Honestly I never liked nvidia's strategy like that. But it works... Still it would be great to have an amd card that's 10% faster than titan, and for 600$. It would really help shift things along in the gpu market.

I just doubt that amd would bring out a card that would beat a titan but cost less than a 780, even if it cost the same as a 780 people will still buy it. At the end of the day they are a business and will price as high as they can but hey i might be wrong, wait and see

Totally agreed. I want my 780 to reign supreme for the next 2 years! :P

Umm...what?

With the AMD cards still on 28nm and on a smaller die, I doubt they will be able to surpass the Titan, but hopefully they release them at a lower pricepoint and force Nvidia to drop prices.

At that price point, who needs it to be ahead...

What it is..... is that EVERYONE had higher expectations.. Thats hardly AMD's fault.

As long as its competitive, while being cheaper, win win...

Price to Performance is EVERYTHING

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Wait so they are saying it will be 600-650$ are you fucking kidding? Really? Didn't they say it would be under 600$ not too long ago, i was expecting something about 500-550$

There are MANY speculations on the final price. Unconfirmed at this point.

to be honest for people buying the highest end cards price to performance is not as important as someone with a lower $250 budget
