I have been dealing with an issue that has been causing my computer to freeze while I play games, bear in mind that I don't do any "hardcore" games like battlefield etc. I have been trying to figure this problem out for months all to no avail. I have heard from a good handful of people that my power suppy (Kingwin Maximum Power 650 watts) is junk and is causing the problem. To be honest, that is the most of one answer I've gotten. (other than my hardware temperatures that I have verified are ok) I'm no expert in power suppies, so can anyone second that? I will link you to the post where I describe my freezing issue and you can see if the power supply is the reason I am dealing with this problem. Please help if you can!

For future reference, any power supply that doesn't give a continuous rating is junk.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Eww, Kingwin. I've never heard of them before and therefore they're very likely not to be known for making good power supplies. I would definitely upgrade your PSU regardless, because a poor PSU can lead to the failure of other components in your system.

Kingwin can be all the way from extremely high quality to total junk. Depends entirely on what model you get.

Edit: That model has a voltage switch, which means the power supply doesn't have active PFC. That doesn't guarantee that it's junk, but it's a pretty good guess. The vast majority of decent power supplies have active PFC.

Wait... this is called the "Maximum Power"?

I was mistaken... but the name is strange

Kingwin had some very good value PSU a few years back with their Lazer Gold, Absolute Platinum, Stryker, and Lazer Platinum series (all Super Flower units based on the Golden Green and Golden King platform.

The oem is Super Flower so I wouldn't be too concerned. The only review I can find is of the 450W version which gets a Bronze score.

Do you think that the power supply would be the issue or is contributing to the issue? I'm at a loss of things to do anymore to try to fix this...
