Motherboard temperature

I just installed hwmonitor on my NAS because I was curious what temperatures things were hitting and I saw that my motherboard temperature is really high (115C). I've never seen anything get that hot before. I have attached a picture

 

Im guessing this isn't normal? What could I do to diagnose the problem or to fix the issue?

All i can guess is that its becuase the motherbaord is running all those hard drives... Thats all i can think of. Either that or your cooling is not working properly (but probebly not)...

That looks like an error if not shut that thing down!

 

My Asus board gives me an error if I try to open HwMonitor saying there is an issues with sensors, they give inaccurate readings.

i'm pretty sure thats a sensor thats not hooked up, since it seems to sit at the same value.

 

i have a system with a sensor like this, and i honestly never found a hot spot on the mobo...

Try physically putting your hand near the mobo and see if the heat radiating off matches up to what you would feel if your hand was near a pot of boiling of water

Turn of your NAS as fast as you can, without changing the stress level (to retain heat, if its there) then feel the spot that's reporting that.

If you burn yourself the probe was right, you should've listened to it in the first place, just like when your mother told you to not date that one girl. If it doesn't burn you, the probe was lying to you, like that one girl your mom told you not to date.

I run many more drives than that... never above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

I'd wager it's just a broken probe, OP.

It looks like a sensor mistake, but to be sure, go run at full tilt, and put your hand very near the parts, if you feel like it's when you take stuff out of the oven, then it's a bad sign.

well, nothing felt burning hot near the MB so maybe just a sensor problem then. I'm guessing thats not something thats fixable?

Don't worry I had the same reading and it was definitly not that hot.....

It's an error in the reporting software. If your board was 115C it wouldn't be functioning, or at the very least you would smell the distinct odor of plastic melting.

asus boards seem to do that once in a while lol

half the asus boards i have owned never displayed properly for mb

but u can go put ur hand a inch above your mb everywhere and check

if u burn it might not be a error lol
