What is an all around good keyboard for gaming?

GrimNeo

Hi, I have an old keyboard SteelSeries Merc Stealth from 2004. What is a good keyboard to replace that one? Should I go with http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-apex-m800-customizable-mechanical-gaming-keyboard Steelseries apex m800. http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/rgb-gaming-keyboard-g910 Logitech g910 or http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g710-mechanical-gaming-keyboard Logitech g710. http://www.corsair.com/en/gaming-keyboards/vengeance-gaming-keyboards Corsair k95 or k70. Or http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-blackwidow-tournament-edition-chroma Razer black widow.

I play all types of games. MMOrpg, fps, 3rd person shooters, action, and etc.

Thank you.

I ended up buying the Logitech g502 mouse. My monitor goes at 1440p 144Hz if that matters.

If you want a budget one, my CM Storm Quickfire TK is great for typing and gaming and you can travel with it since it has a removable cable.

I take it in to college and I love it :D

The G910 is apparently absolutely horrid.

I'd go with one of the Corsair, or the Razer keyboards. Unless you don't care about the short Shift key on the Steelseries.

Do you know what switch type you like? If not, you should try out some and find out. It's not something anyone here can help you with, it's completely personal preference.

I liked Cherry MX Red. The Steelseries keyboard has its own type of switches. It does however have that huge space bar lol.

It was not on newegg. They were out of stock. Damn. I might go with the new Steelseries keyboard and they responded to me on YouTube plus this keyboard I have now is old but really worn out. Still works but I would need to replace the keys lol.

This.

Take CM quickfire pro/rapid with Cherry MX red switches.

It was and is my first mech keyboard and I LOVE IT, I wouldn't ever consider any other brand or switch + it isn't as expensive as the Leopold, ducky (leopold and ducky are amazing though, just expensive) or shit quality blackwidows.

The G910 is a love it or hate it keyboard.

Some love it.

It has a higher actuation point than cherry MX browns, so it makes some things, like speed reloading in call of duty, much easier, while still having tactility.

People can hate the G910 all they want, but one thing can NOT be argued:

The RGB colors on the G910 look better than any RGB keyboard on the market.

That's because it has the only switch that was designed for RGB lightning.  Notice the keycap legends are precisely in the middle of the key and not off to the side?

And due to that design, there is absolutely NO LED backlight bleed.

And it has more than 512 colors :)

I ended up buying the Steelseries Apex m800 because the g910 was overpriced by $100 everywhere I went.

Is the Steelseries the fairly new one? The one with the mechanical switches that they made that are supposed to be like reds/blacks? If so I say go for it if you liked the linearity of MX reds, I thought that keyboard looked really neato when Luke covered it.

And if memory serves right that board has like 5 macros too. So that's good.

Edit: I don't know why I didn't just click the link you provided to see if that was the keyboard I was talking about, but yeah that's the one. I say go for it. :P

I bought it but it's on pre-order. I trust Steelseries and they answered questions for me on YouTube. It was $199.99 :(. I will let you know how it is when I get it. Should have it by May 4th. It comes out May 1st. I watched the LTT video about it at CES.

so i finally just upgraded to a new keyboard and mouse. both wired (thought wireless was cool cause it came out when i was in middle school) i got the k70 rgb and love it so far. got it with the mx reds i mean how can you go cherry and not have it be red LOL. i would recommend it after 12 hours of use it is awesome. go with the white led version to save money if you need to. honestly i dont think A) i could ever go back to a membrane and B) i could ever go non rgb (laptop excluded) it is so awesome man i would look into them.
