Potential cooling in Define S chassis

Hi guys im a pretty noobie builder especcially in cooling so what type of cooling can I get in this case?

I was thinking:

with no hard drive mounts/dvd mounts, 240mm rad on front for cpu, 1 fan on top, 1 fan back mounted

I'm not watercooling except for rads.

But im not that good at cooling, what is the best position and direction for each fan/rad? (so push/pull, position and everything, including fans on rads and whether push/pull)

I can't get this case quite yet by the way, not available in australia yet. *depressed* :(

no budget really..

Using rads are for watercooling..

I said besides rads for h100is or something of the like, not a full resovir for gpu and cpu.

So what you meant was that you were open to using AIO's but not a custom loop. Both are still liquid cooling with rads.

The best position for fans will depend on the rest of the components.

Default position for dual AIO rad is top exhausting. Because way the air moves in room and dust prevention. All front fans should be intake. Imo in that case you won't need anything more. Its made for custom WC loops so maybe you are better off with R4/5 if you are going to use basic stuff.

S has removed DVD and HDD mounts which I don't need, and would make cooling better. So maybe just front fans would work

I agree with this, also because when front mounting a rad the fans are not only working against the resistance of the rad, they are also working against the resistance of the filter.  That tends to make for very poor airflow.

Would the stock fans and current cooling not be sufficient?

Given your system an AIO isn't going to give you much except a bit lower CPU temps. That said if you're dead set you'll want to mount your radiator at the top of the case setup to exhaust. On the front you'll just want to fill all three slots with intake. Obviously you'll want to populate the rear exhaust, but that's it.

That said the ~$120 USD you'd be laying out for the AIO is about 2/3rds of a fairly tidy GPU upgrade. Tuck the case in there too and you're within spitting distance of a 290.

1. Overclock until the magic smoke comes out. 2. Modify until broken. 3. Fix and repeat.

Don't know what AIO is but I understand the rest, and by front intake you mean intake fans?
