Ok, so I asked a while back what upgrade I should do to my system and the only response I got was to upgrade my GPU

I have the that my 6950 won't fit in my case...so that sucks.

Current build:

H81 asrock pro btc

G3258 4.2 on stock

12gb Ram

1TB Hitachi HDD

6950 Windforce

Raidmax super blade

625w PSU

I've got 80 bucks atm and I will be getting a bit more cash soon. What would be the best upgrade for me?

Sell the 6950 and get something close to an R9 270 or so?

Not sure what you can get for that one and if it fits in your case though.

Specs wise the 6950 is about on par with a 260x btw,

Uh I think i'll be able to get 60-70 bucks for my 6950 if i sell it which would give me 140-150 to look around

Try and get R9 270 or GTX 960 if you can those are the best you can get with your Raidmax case.

Yeah, I know. The R7 260X is a rebrand of the same chip. That's why I said you should sell that one and get some more money for something like a R9 270.

IF that doesn't fit your case, you should probably look at something like a 750 Ti.

Not sure about where you live, so the GTX 960 may be quite expensive.

I'm from the US not near any microcenters or fry's though :/

also do I need to worry about bottlenecking on 960?

I'm not opposed to switching out other components either such as case

The case seems pretty decent, how did the GPU not fit in it?

But you can probably get a smaller and better performing GPU by selling your current and throwing in that 80 USD.

Try and get a bigger case or is it for personal reason?

Get a proper mid tower which will fit your 6950 (I have the card above that 6970 and I can confirm it's a big card).

they made some changes in the last production run of the cases, so they reduced the capabilities of the case without telling anyone, then quit production (..yeah not legit rebate on the case to get people to buy it too)

Either that get R9 270/X or GTA 960 unless you upgrade your case I can say the Radeon HD 6XXX are outdated man, you are better getting a new GPU at this point :)

any recommendations on good priced case? I really like the s340 but I need an ODD :/

NZXT are a reputable brand, Coolermaster are also a good brand Lilan are another good brand.

It should fit well it's a sturdy case, it's really all up to you what brand do you want and your style so don't let anyone tell you what to pick. But if you get the case fit the 6950 and upgrade later that's also good :)

Three good brands, your choice but I would get the S340. :)

I got an oversized case :P Regret it :D
