Boot too fast to enter bios - help?

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

Hi everyone,

I just finished putting together my first custom pc build, and i have it all set up fine, but i wanted to do some overclocking. The only problem is, that my pc boots so fast i don't have time to press delete to open the BIOS. I enabled ultra fast boot, so...

Oh, and my motherboard is a Gigabyte z97m-d3h Rev 1.0.

Any suggestions? I heard some manufacturers have software which allows you to boot straight into the bios, but i can't seem to find anything of the sort from gigabyte.

Thanks

unplug the ssd/hdd.

Also most bios' with fast boot have an option for hold power button to boot into bios (and/or allow you to restart into bios through software).

Maybe your board doesn't use the delete key to get into bios? Pretty sure spamming whichever key it is to enter bios is damn near fool proof? From the second you hit power button just spam delete as fast you can.

just mash the delete button as soon as you press power on

keep mashing until you get into the bios...

some motherboards use F keys instead of DEL though, check your manual

Quick fix: switch off the PSU while the PC is running (save everything before). Normaly the BIOS have a fallback routine and will be shown on the next startup.

Better solution: Disable the fast boot funtion with the software.

If all this fails, just take out the battery of your motherboard for 5 minutes and put it back in and redo your settings for your bios and you are good to go.

It is so fast probably because because you have Gigabyte's Ultra Fast Boot enabled. Just remove the CMOS battery on your motherboard (It stores all the BIOS settings) and put it back in after a couple of minutes. It should return your BIOS settings back to default, and you should be able to enter the BIOS easily.
