What Should I do? (Graphics Card Upgrade Question)

kenjigreat

Right Now I have a i7-4790k and GTX 980.

I don't really care about 4k Resolution that much , But I like to run mods and run everything on Ultra high in 1080p.

Is it better to Buy another 980 and SLI/ Wait for 980Ti then SLI?

Wait. You're only gaming on 1 1080p screen, and the 980 isn't maxing everything out at 60fps? It should do most of the time, even with another 980, you're most likely not going to see much of an improvement over your current setup, certainly not enough to warrant another $600

EDIT: if it is the VRAM, SLI won't fix it. If you want/need more VRAM the Titan X would be a logical upgrade

EDIT2: or a 8GB 290X

At 1080P? I think you are set as it is. But if you are hell-bent on upgrading, I suppose the Titan lineup is about the only greater option

I like my 980 and Yes its running fine , I'm talking about the next 2 years worth of upgrades when games become more demanding.

I know the 980 Should be able to run the games that I want now at 1080p , But the Witcher 3 on Ultra is already going to push it pretty far and games are only going to get more demanding.

I'm planning on getting mods for the Witcher 3, I heard that the 980 can run Ultra with a few drops at 60fps , I expect when the mods release It'll drop sub-60fps

Titan X on a 1080p monitor? I sense a disturbance in the force...

usually i see good stuff from you, but did you just rec. a Titan X for a single 1080p screen?  >.>

That's about $500 more than he needs to spend. If vram is a problem, then get a 8gb 290X, its $480 and you will plainly never touch 8gb or anywere NEAR it at 1080p, period.

A 240Hz Panel would require that type of power; especially for modern games such as Star Citizen, Battlefield 4, Crysis 3, etc.

@OP No need to worry about upgrading right now if things are working good, just wait and see what the market does then make your mind up later.

Well that is 2 years from now, so much could have happened by then.

I was talking about if he was maxing the VRAM (which is possible on 1080p), the Titan X at the moment is the only sensible upgrade.

SLI'ing wont increase VRAM.

Oh yeah, forgot about that card.

But I did not recommend a Titan X, I simply suggested it would be one upgrade that is possible if he required more VRAM.

k well stick with your 980 for now....

when the mods get released then worry about a gpu upgrade
completely disagree with everyone telling you to drop $1k on a titan x "just cuz"
