Help me choose a new GPU!

ces160

Hi All,

I have recently got a bunch of old computers from my work and would like to mae a gaming rig for my brother.

This is the one with the best specs:

CPU: Intel i5 760

Motherboard: Gigabyte H55M-D2H

Memory: 4Gb (2x2) Generic

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 240

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500Gb 7200 RPM

PSU: Generic 680W

Case: I have an old Corsair 650D im going to put it in.

Optical: Asus DVD-RW

OS: Windows 7 Professional 32bit

Out of all the parts only two GPU's functioned. A 9600 GT and a GT 240.

I spent all weekend benching these cards to see which one is better, and came to the conclusion they both suck! (Heaven bench mark on the basic preset with AA off, average FPS was 20).

So I'm looking at getting a new (newer used) GPU.

My price range is $150 + postage (I live in Australia so that about a quarter to you Mericans... lol jokes its about $130).

I have found on line three cards in my price range can you help me choose which one is the best?

-GTX 580 1.5GB DDR5

-GTX 660 2GB DDR5

-GTX 750 Ti 2GB DDR5

EDIT: The rig will be specifically for playing games at 1080p.

Thanks for the help

750ti

Thanks for the reply, can you justify your choice?

Why is the 750ti better than the others?

It is the newest, out of those 3

And you will need 2gb, which the 580 does not have

So will the 750ti perform better than the 580 at 1080p?

The 580 may perform better, but it's only 1.5gb and takes over 200 watts compared to the 750ti 60watts

This means that the 750ti will be MUCH cooler

I believe the 580 performs better than the 750 ti. The only thing is that the 580 will be MUCH more power hungry and hot.

The 750 ti is slower than the 660.

Out of the three, I'd choose the 660.

Desktop: The Bluez | CPU: i5-3570k @ 4.5 ghz 1.296V | CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo | Motherboard: P8Z77 M-Pro | Memory: 16 GB 1600Mhz Kingston HyperX

GPU: Asus GTX 780ti DirectCu II | HDD: Some Random Hitachi 1TB, WD Blue 1TB, 850 EVO 500GB | PSU: Rosewill Hive 750W | Case: Enermax Ostrog GT (Blue Ver.)

Laptop: Razer Blade 14 2013 256GB

Thanks, from what I can tell from doing some research is that the 580 would perform the best but the 660 is better performance per watt than the 580 and is slightly better performance than the 750ti.
