What do I need to get set up??

My PC Specs: CPU: Core i5 4590 @ stock speeds, GPU: RX 480 8GB, RAM: 16GB DDR3 @1600mhz

 

Case: Zalman ZM-T4,Motherboard: GigaByte GA-H81M-S2H LGA 1150, HDD/SSD: 2TB Seagate Expansion drive, 1TB Samsung Portable HDD, 160gb Intel SSD, PSU: 550w corsair cxm

Self esteem, the dedication to continue even with low viewership.  People will forgive tech faults, as long as you have decent content.  Don't invest too much into equipment until it can start paying for itself.

 

Create and AdSense account.  Link it to your Youtube account.  That's it really.  I should have turned on AdSense years ago, all those thousands of views on my Path of Exile videos could have made a bit of cash :P

Movie maker if you're feeling basic.

You can't get anything that good for less than a few hundred pounds or dollars.

You earn money from YouTube through sponsorships (you'd have to be big and careful), donations (for which you'd have to be big) or AdSense (which is declining). Once YouTube goes to subscription based stuff, you just have to be big to get some assuming YouTube proportions things fairly.

I wouldn't use ShadowPlay, I'd really use something like Bandicam (cheap) or OBS (free). You could then use either NVENC or Intel Quick Sync, which could work very well for you.

Apart from what have already, being able to take criticism is pretty important. By that I don't mean not being let down by it, but being able to use it to improve yourself.

Also, a good microphone, not something on the side of a gaming headset.. It's 2015 and not sounding like shit isn't very appealing.

My headset mic is pretty good it isn't a yeti pro but it isn't fizzly
