I want to buy a new laptop but do I need a good sound card in order to get a good sound from the audiojack? I know its a stupid question BUT. I only use headphones. Does that make a differences?

 

I wont use speakers of the laptop at all because i got parents and neighbours.

No, the onboard sound is usually good enough for most headphones.

aslong as it has a Sound jack it is good enough unless you have the top of the rang $200+ headphones

so if onboard is good for bass and audio quality im glad. I will only use headphones on the laptop anyway. Dont want to have crappy audio because the laptop lacks audio hardware or whatever

If you see yourself ever needing more power for high-impedance headphones in the future you can check out the Schiit Fulla and the FiiO E10K. both small and portable.

I've tried them from a number of sources and I don't run them from onboard. Thing is, the sound doesn't change much with the source, if at all.
