I bought some fermented herring off the internet to try it and I have a lot left over so does anyone know how long this stuff lasts fr outside the can. I don't want to give myself food poisoning.

It should be fine if it's in a salt lake(or whatever that liquid in the can is called) and in a somewhat airtight container.

As long as it's properly made, it should last for a couple of days, what's going to happen later on is that the taste gets a lot stronger. It's like those cheeses that go way past their expiration date and is served as a delicacy.

I just did a few searced on norwegian fermented herring, it's quite a big deal here.

I'm telling the truth! I AM a 12 year old girl!

If you can put the lid back on it in the water it came in it should last 2-3 weeks no problem in the fridge

Shame because I chucked the brine and froze the fish. I obviously have a strong stomach and smell because it's not even that bad. My family disagree however. I suppose it's being a chef.
