Hi

I am relatively new to making PC guides and review videos. This is my first major attempt at making a PC build guide for a high end PC. I have spent a lot of time making this video to the best of my abilities. I hope you guys find this guide useful in your own builds. It would be much appreciated if you guys could give me constructive criticisms on what you guys don't like or what i perhaps could have done better.

Hope you guys enjoy : )

It has come to my attention that the previous time that i had made this post that members of the community have suggested that by posting this video i am breaking the code of conduct in the forum and i would like to address this issue.

In the original post i had reported my own post asking an administrator to remove my post to comply with the forum rules. After this request was sent i had received a message from a moderator with the following quote

"Having looked at the original version of your post, I and another moderator agree that the thread was in fact within the terms of our Code of Conduct, so if you would like to post the thread again, perhaps with a note that it has been approved by a moderator, that would be permitted."

After which i had mention that right at the end of the video there is the text saying "Subscribe" right at the end of the video. At no point in the video have i verbally mentioned to subscribe or like the video. There are also no annotations throughout the video linking to my channel to subscribe either.

"Optimally, we prefer that videos do not contain any kind of advertising for your YouTube account. Three of us have discussed this and decided that we don't consider your current advertisement to be a big deal, as it is only a single image at the very end of the video asking users to subscribe which does not even link users to do so. We will have to confirm with more of the team before we can say for sure that it's acceptable, however we see no issue with you reposting the video in its current form for now. If we determine that the end of your video does not abide by the Code of Conduct, we will let you know as soon as possible."

As it stands I currently have permission to post this review unless stated otherwise by other moderators.

closing thoughts -

I did not come to this forum to intentionally break any rules or to cause trouble. All i wanted is to make YouTube videos and to share them with the community so please read this before righting hurtful comments : /

Thank,

Vishal

Hi!

First of all, this will stay self-advertisement. I've read your text though, so I guess it's okay. Try legalizing it by using PCPartPicker or something, so that it doesn't look too much like self-advertisement. Prepare to get s*** thrown at you anyway, though.

But, I think that you can win respect here on the forums. Try helping other people out, to get yourself some reputation. Good luck, and welcome to the forums!

Now, to the criticism.

Sadly enough, the facts about your project itself are lacking:

  • "Ultimate builds" are a risk to make. An Ultimate Build is considered something that can take anything in its subject.

Your subject is 2015. Which is hard, because we've seen almost no big releases. The only thing really worth waiting for is GTA V, and it's not sure your build can handle it, since GTA V is not released yet.

  • You should by default include all the parts in the description, or a PCPartPickerList. I needed to pause the video at the right femtosecond to watch which CPU you had chosen :P.
  • The i7. I get angry at i7's because they're misunderstood. You said that you picked the i7 to not cause a bottleneck, and sadly enough, I call BS on that argument. i7's are good for rendering and stuff, but aren't more optimized for gaming than i5:

The i7 you chose was the i7-4970S. 3,2 GHz to 4GHz.

You could've gotten the i5-4690K, 3,5GHz to 3,9GHz. Not only an overlook-able amount of GHz difference, but this one is

also 60/70 US$ cheaper, AND overclock-able, unlike the i7-4970S, which is not unlocked.

  • ntel stock coolers are s*** w*** a** and every other bad thing. You should've considered getting the Hyper 212 EVO (or whatever that thing is called again) or something like that. Any aftermarker cooler will perform better than stock.
  • Chipset Z87 is enough, but the Z97 is a little more future proof.

But, here's the good things:

  • Great choice RAM.
  • 64-Bit Operating System.
  • Great choice of budget SSD.
  • Great brand choice of PSU.
  • Great brand choice of Cases.
  • Peripherals are branded.
  • Great choice of secondary drive.
  • You are a great talker. You have those first nerves at times, but you keep talking and pick up after you f*** up, which is great!
  • Full building process walktrough.
  • Nice flashforward in the beginning, it's a cool idea! Transition to the video itself could've been smoother, but for your first buildlogthing, it's really great!

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

thank you stijncat for the constructive feed back.

I have posted a link to PC part picker in the original post to see all the components easily. Same for the YouTube video it self.

The reason that i had chosen the i7 instead of an i5 in general is because the guy i was building the pc for wanted to experiment with live streaming so i had recommended him to use x-x-split which is quiet CPU heavy i believe so i thought he would need the extra horse power.

The reason why i did not get his a k edition processor is because he was adiment on not doing any overclocking what so ever dispite the fact that i had explained to him that it would be basicly free performance but as we had also stuck with a stock cooler in the end we decided on no over clocking.

I probably should have mention this in the video to make think clearer.

hopefully next time i can avoid making these mistakes : )
