Requesting American Help on phone contract

FloRolf

Hey LTT! :)

So here's my problem:

My GF just started her 3 month internship in the US. Detroit to be exact.

Right now she only has an internet connection at her apartment but she wants to have mobile internet too.

She doesnt really need to call people there just mainly internet but only for Whatsapp and Facebook, no video streaming.

Can anyone of you recommend a contract like some prepaid which is valid for 3months and delivers a smooth and cheap experience?

She has an iphone 4 but that shouldnt be an issue cause it doesnt have simlock.

Thanks! :) :)

@FloRolf

It's a shame that she doesn't have an LTE ready phone. Oh well.

Anyways, MetroPCS, which runs on T-Mobile's network, has a $30 plan that gives you unlimited calling, unlimited texting, and "unlimited" data. By "unlimited data" I mean that you get 1GB of 4G (up to HSPA+ speeds) speeds and then unlimited 2G speeds (up to 128kbps) after that, which will be good enough for WhatsApp, Facebook, and so on.

Ting?

Ting runs on Sprint's network, therefore an unlocked iPhone 4 won't work on it.

Just about all, if not all, unlocked phones are GSM based, and Sprint is CDMA based.

That sounds pretty cool.

Can you also cancel it after the 3months are over? :)

It's a prepaid plan, so it's paid for month to month, and she would still be able to use her iPhone. No contracts.
