Browse for used parts.

No joke here. As Linus explained, "if I would build a 400-500$ machine, I would do this (points at a fully used build)". You'll get a  much better machine, while feeling that you accomplished something a lot harder. If you are half smart, you should be able to do it safely. We can aid you with compatibility and quality issues, but you gotta work a bit too!

That, or save more money.

Probably the best for the price.

so a g3258 + r9 270 is what i should be aiming for?

The prices here are slightly different from what you have in the US so i might change it abit and let you guys see again is that alright?

Yeah, if price increases a lot then consider an R7 265 or 750 Ti.

Im actually advising for a friend and i've also suggested a g3258 + 270 but that will equate up to $1000SGD

So im trying to see other's opinion and whether did i make the right choice

Best, although saving up to get a Z97 would be advised.

@Aniallation suggested a great build, too.

Hmm could you guys suggest like an APU orinated build? I just want the machine to hit 60fps on the games mentioned above. Try to make it as cheap as possible!

Just include the motherboard, apu and how much wattage of the psu should i look out for!

Because my friend is rather limited in the cash region xD

And possibly what upgrade paths too! (like what GPU can the APU crossfire with so i know how much PSU i should get for him so it leaves him an upgrade path if he ever decides he wants an upgrade!)

Buying an APU at the moment is slightly wasteful, when you can get a far better GPU and CPU for a little more than a high end APU.  APUs aren't built for gaming, more for productivity and general use.

If you know what you want, just get it. I see no point in consulting us.

Hmm it seems like a CPU+GPU combo really is better....

The G3220 will defiantly *cringe* bottleneck *cringe* the 270, however if your friend can save up for a cheap i5 it would be fine.

It's that bad? Is there a way to do a bios update without a CPU?

I do think you need a CPU.  If you can take the one out if your build and install it in your friends, you can do the BIOS update.
