Modding a NZXT H440 Razer Edition

Special K

Hi all.

So after buying the h440. (Yes i got the razer edition. I got suckered into the beauty of it) lol.

So i need some advice. I've got the nzxt kraken x61 with the rad on top and the fans in push config. But this case badly chokes the rad.

Top panel off-

Idle = 26c

Load=50c

Top panel on-

Idle=38

Load= 65-70

Ive done numerous tests. Its an obvious choke point.

So my idea is to mod the top panel too allow the air to escape effectively. Does anyone have any experience with this? ideas? and a method of doing it. The panel is plastic which has made me all nervous.

Many Thanks!

Cut a hole in it and cover it up with a radiator gard.

Would you think this is also aesthetically pleasing? lol

Some people have told me to mount the rad at the front. But i cant see that solving anything since the panels are almost identical.

Just letting you know you're signature can only be 3 lines tall. You shouldn't put your specs in like that.

Use a Dremel saw to cut a square to match the top fan mount dimensions and add in some modders mesh to protect it from debris.

What sort of price are we looking at? Money isnt a major issue. I only really spend money on my desktops and Jack Daniels (My two favourite hobbies lol)

I had the same problem , I just removed the mesh and added a hole at the front of the top pannel ( the one part that's just black plastic ) .

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

Okay, this is how I got better temps with the H440. I switched out the rad fans with SP120. Temps decreased by 5C. Then try to remove all things that restricts airflow. Like bad cabeling, hdd cages etc. This should pretty much solve the question. And the H440 is even better if you use the stock cooler for the nvidia cards as they blow the air out the back
