Hey guys,

I'm in the process of putting most of my movies on my PC. I'm trying to install the digital copy of Pineapple Express. I put in the digital copy disk, and the popup comes up asking me if I want the PC version, or the PSP version. I click PC, and it tells me I need to make Internet Explorer 6 or later my default browser (wow). I remove the disk, I do that. Reinsert disk, still, no bueno, same issue. When I click the little box that is suppose to direct me to a full list of system requirements, internet will not load the page, it encounters an issue. The link also doesn't work in google.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Apparently my internet isn't the latest version. I'm updating to IE11 now. I would also like to throw in the tidbit that Internet Explorer blocked my download of the internet exporer updater, for safety reasons.

I'm making the switch...

what program are you using?

also, you don't install movies, they aren't programs.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I'm sorry. It's midnight and I'm just confused. I know the difference.

What do you mean what program? I insert the disk, and get a prompt like you do with all removable devices asking me what I want to do, and I click something like "launch bonuscopy.exe" or something.

I actually like having all my movies physically on a shelf so i can browse if im bored and want to watch something, crap like what you're experiencing is why i never bother with the digital copies, they always want something from you as if buying the movie in the first place wasn't enough.

Yeah. It's a pain.

I partially am doing this, because I want to put them on my new corsair voyager GO and watch them on my phone.

Another little update, went directly onto the disk, found the 1gb .wmv file, launching it launches windows media player, but tries to launch a window to some partners.sonypictures.com or whatever, but the site doesn't load. Is there anything I can do with this .wmv file?

Clearly you've never seen Kodi/XBMC or Plex

Physically browsing through your movies is nice, but I've found to prefer digitally scrolling through them all. It has the same feel, sort of. I keep my stash of DVD's and BluRays in the attic, buy it, rip it, stash it. I used to have two bookshelfs floor to ceiling full with dvd's and bluray's and when I filled those up, I got tired of paying for more shelves. Plus it was starting to look a bit unsightly in the space I had.

There's something to be said about flicking through your collection by hand, but I had such a hard time keeping everything sorted and organized. My OCD had me organize it all alphabetically, but when people would come over they wouldn't put stuff back in the right spot. So infuriating.

I invested in a proper storage server and spent nearly two months ripping my entire collection to digital. Now XBMC does it all for me and I never looked back. Plus Plex lets me watch my movies no matter where I am in the world.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do. How do you rip your blurays and dvds?

Initially I bought a license for ImTOO Video Converter Ultimate and used dvd decrypter to rip my DVD's to .vob and then I converted that to .mkv. But as I got through my collection a lot of them had protection methods in place and so I ended up buying a copy of ImTOO Blu-ray Ripper. Which has worked just fine for me ever since.

They make copy protection software you can install to remove the protection, and then rip/convert it. But I got sick and tired of ripping all my movies. SO GLAD when it was all done.

Once I had everything digitally, I then had to start organizing it and I learned I made many mistakes really quickly. When you are naming your movies, use the proper name AND add in the year ie "The Avengers (2012).mkv". Then you can use something like Filebot or theRenamer to go through and sort your collection for you automatically. This has the added benefit of making the content instantly accessible to XBMC/Plex as they can easily look up the movie info from themoviedb or imdb using the filename

I have over 1400 films in my collection but i do keep a digital version of my collection in the sense i use an app on my phone to store the title/cover/rating details. I can scroll through my entire collection on my phones screen and if i cant decide i can give it a shake and one will be randomly chosen for me

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/movie-database-upc-barcode/id476461999?mt=8

The app uses the phones camera as a bar-code scanner then fetches the films details and adds it to my collection, super handy!

lol yeah I've got 1439 movies in my collection too! Massive 9.7 TB

That app does seem to be a happy medium between my overkill server, and a shelf full of movies. I wish XBMC had that feature to randomly pick a movie. Sometimes it's tough to choose haha

Yeah i know what you mean, before that app i was hopeless and often purchased doubles when i would see a film on sale and couldn't remember if i owned it or not. Now i can just check my phone when im in the store. Also if i see something i want but its currently very new/expensive i can scan the bar-code and add it to my wishlist for a reminder. Good to see im not the only one here  :P

What about just using something such as handbrake for DVDs and maybe blurays?

EDIT: I just ripped my copy of Saving Private Ryan (2:49) with Handbrake. It's 8.5gb, and there is some weird screen quality thing, and the entire movie is unplayable. What gives?

Ditch Windows Media Player, it sucks. Give it a try with VLC and see if it still does that.

Were you actively using your computer while it was ripping? Before I got my 3770k I couldn't use my computer while I was ripping/converting because it would cause issues like that, though yours is REALLY bad. I still try to rip movies while I'm sleeping.

Hmm. Not really. Just browsing, etc. I'll try again and do nothing.

Should handbrake work fine though? Or is that part of the issue? And will it work fine with blurays too?

I've used handbrake before, but only to convert my already ripped movies to iPhone format.

I don't see why it wouldn't though, it honestly just looks like a bad rip, it happens.

Yeah. I'm now using makeMKV, and then using handbrake to condense them, and convert to MP4. So far everything seems good.

Quality is 720p, not 1080p which is a bummer, and I have to rip all the dvd versions, not bluray. But so far, a success!
