Xbox 360 Controller

Go to solution Solved by MattLantis,

oh i suggested something and it wasn't relevant to your question really, not saying that your question is invalid. Sorry about the confusion that I could have caused.

gotcha, lol, and i got everything sorted out.

Thanks for all of your help :)

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. I'm tired AF. So I read somewhere that xbox 360 controllers are plug and play, but like, i plugged in the controller into my Windows 8.1 computer, and it doesn't work, steam doesn't detect a controller there. Windows does in the Device manager thingy, but steam is like nah mang, no controller der. So if anybody could offer their help, that'd be great.

Start up a game. Why is Steam suppose to recognize it??

Like in big picture mode, it detects no controller. I'll check again and launch up a game tho

How?

If you get a Microsoft made (Gamestop as well) 360 controller it's PnP. Others I think you need to get drivers.

I have 8.1 and all I did was PnP.

I plugged it in, and it doesn't want to work. I plugging a game in while it was launched, before it was launched, when steam was shut down, nothing worked.

It says on their website that it should show up under 'devices' on 'view devices and printers', but it shows up under 'unspecified'. I assume that's the problem

ahh here we go

it might be your usb ports

try different ones

if you have it in usb 3...try a usb 2 port

it was in a USB 2. Tried switching it to another USB 2 and still showed up there

then yea sounds like you need some drivers

Went to afterglow's website, says nothing about drivers.

Went to microsoft's website, doesn't have anything about drivers for windows 8
