Go to solution Solved by MattLantis,

oh i suggested something and it wasn't relevant to your question really, not saying that your question is invalid. Sorry about the confusion that I could have caused.

Thanks for all of your help :)

@MattLantis are you sure it's not like emulating a PS3 controller?

Went to afterglow's website, says nothing about drivers.

Went to microsoft's website, doesn't have anything about drivers for windows 8

The controller can not be used on a PC only Xbox 360

go to this website to make almost any 360 controller work:

follow instructions carefully

if it still doesn't work, modify the .inf file for your controller. ****C:\Program Files (x86)\XBCD\Driver\xbcd.inf****

device manager -> right click on non working controller -> properties -> details -> hardware lds (check the numbers and add to .inf file then sign the system file with driver signature enforcement driver 1.3b

example of what i did: %XBCD.DeviceDesc%    =Install,               USB\VID_1BAD&PID_F900           ; Afterglow Gamepad for Xbox 360

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

@MattLantis if this does not work, download MotionJoy.

I was able to make my PS3 controller work with Big Picture

a lot of the xbox controller driver issues on win 7/8 can be fixed by right clicking the device in device manager (whatever wrong thing it is listed as > update driver software... > Browse my computer for device software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > your driver should be listed under control pads or xbox accessories towards the bottom of the list.  This worked for me on win7 and 8 with wireless receivers and wired controllers that were't microsoft licensed.
