OEM just means its original item. SP1=Service pack 1

Oem means it's not retail. You won't get customer support like you usually do from Microsoft with an Oem Win7.

OEM versions of Windows 7 are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:

- OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel

- OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on

- OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

- OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

I always buy an oem, but the one thing that you should keep in mind is what virusal19 said: oem's are tied to the first mobo they are installed on, so if your motherboard dies or you want to upgrade your motherboard you will need to call the Microsoft activation hotline and get a new activation number.  This can be a pain in the bum. SO I recommend if you do have to replace your motherboard, once you have got windows activated again make ghost image or disc image of your hard drive with a fresh bare bones install on there. That way if you have to re-install (dead hdd, bad virus etc) you won't have to go through the cd key and activation thing again.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

what he said :)

Definitely worth your money saving by getting an OEM cody instead of a retail version though. For Sure :D

PROFILEYEAH

What do people even put in these things?
